Digby Fairweather has been a professional jazz musician since l977. After touring as a soloist and working  with groups including ‘The Alex Welsh Reunion Band’, ‘Pizza Express All Stars’  ‘Best of British Jazz’ (l999-2006) and ‘The Great British Jazz Band’ (l994-2005) he led his ‘Half-Dozen’ from l995; touring and recording with blues-legend George Melly (2003-7) Paul Jones (2007-2019) and  as a solo act. ‘Digby Fairweather’s Half Dozen’ won the (Birmingham-based) British Jazz Award for ‘top small group’ for twelve  years; (2005/6/8/9/10/11/12/13/14/15/16/19) and played most of the UK jazz festivals as well as London’s Ronnie Scott’s and Pizza Express during its twenty-one year history. His autobiography (Notes From a Jazz Life 2^nd ed) was published in 2015 and in 2020 he signed a lifetime contract with ‘Trapeze Acrobat Records’ who have so far produced four double albums of his retrospective recordings  (‘Notes From A Jazz Life’ Vols 1/2/3). Digby has (very flatteringly!) been called 'just about the best Ambassador British jazz could have’ (Michael Dynan,’The Stage’); a claim which he is modestly pleased about, but stoutly denies!  His new show called ‘Leaving my horn at home!’ (2026) combines reminiscences, tall tales and a handful of his favourite songs’!
